Led Zeppelin Very Rare Atlantic Records White Label In-Store Play Promo LP

Here’s a GREAT Led Zeppelin PROMO LP that you rarely run across and when you do, it has a high “Buy It Now” price. This is a TRUE auction with NO “Buy-it Now” price, NO Reserve and a LOW starting bid. This LP comes from my own collection.

In this auction:

·       “ATANTIC RECORDS PROMOTIONAL LP FOR RECORED DEPARTMENT-IN-STORE-PLAY” containing “Excerpts from Atlantic LP-SD 8214 DUSTY SPRINGFIELD DUSTY IN MEMPHIS” and “Excerpts from Atlantic LP-SD 8216 LED ZEPPELIN”

·       This PROMO LP is also known as “Climb Aboard Led Zeppelin”.

·       This is Atlantic Records TL-ST-135.

·       It is a “Record Store Sampler” LP.

·       The A-side promotes a Dusty Springfield LP. The B-side promotes the first “LED ZEPPELIN” LP.

·       I understand that this is the FIRST Led Zeppelin Promo Record in the LP format that was released in the U.S.

·       It was released in 1969 to promote Led Zeppelin’s first LP and is a STEREO LP.

·       This is a WHITE LABEL PROMO PRESSING!!!

·       As you may know PROMO RECORDS were issued in very limited quantities and provided to DJs/Radio Stations, not to the general public, for airplay to promote the single or the LP that has the song.

·        It is a truly unique Promo LP. Here’s what’s on the Led Zeppelin B-Side:

1)   The side begins with an Announcer (with Don Pardo-type voice) who says: “Fly with the Led Zeppelin on Atlantic Records”

2)   “Good Times Bad Times” track plays.

3)   At the end of the track, the Announcer says: “The Led Zeppelin: A new album, a new group on Atlantic Records.”

4)   “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” track plays.

5)   At the end of the track, the Announcer says: “The Led Zeppelin take you on a trip you’ll never forget.”

6)   “Your Time Is Gonna Come” track plays.

7)   At the end of the track, the Announcer says: “Yes, your time is gonna come. In fact, it’s here now! Get on board the Led Zeppelin on Atlantic Records for a flight out of sight!”

8)   “Communication Breakdown” track plays and the side ends

·       The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG CONDITION!! It is white overall and is quite clean for its age. Front has images of the covers of the Dusty Springfield LP and the first Led Zeppelin LP.T The reverse is blank. There is wear (bald) on about 3 inches of the top seam near the spine and there is wear on the bottom right corner near the opening. There’s some light age spotting. I’ve seen only 2 others of these Promo LPs, and the covers were really trashed with DJ writing on them in magic marker and major stains (spills and glass ring marks) on them. This cover is really “peachy” compared to those  I've seen. (Check images.)

·       The VINYL LOOKS VERY NICE. It is in VG+ CONDITION. There are just a few light surface scuffs and hairlines. There are some pops and ticks here and there, but they do not overwhelm the listening experience.  

·       The LABELS are CLEAN & WHITE!!! No soiling or writing on them at all! The labels have “PROMOTIONAL RECORD FOR RECORD DEPARTMENT IN-STORE PLAY” printed on them.

·       You most likely know that this particular Led Zeppelin Promo Record simply does NOT come available much at all.

·       So, how can you pass up this unique announcer-formatted PROMO LP that was issued to promote Led Zeppelin’s first LP in the record department of retail stores???
