Description

Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin ll" Atlantic SD-8236 rare 1969 first pressing, 1841 Broadway, Robert Ludwig "Hot Press" with "RL SS" in both sides of the deadwax (matrices are Side 1 = T 1 P ST-A-691671-1B  RL SS, Side 2 = 0 T 1 ST-A-691672-1A  RL SS; the gatefold cover has the super-wide spine (see photo) and is in overall Excellent condition (with the rare 'song title' sticker on back), there are no splits nor repairs anywhere, bottom edge has some very minor rubbing (note the inside left slick extends all the way to the bottom edge), please view all photos.  BOTH sides of the vinyl are in remarkable VG++/Excellent condition (given the age of the album) with a good deal of original gloss (only a few faint angel-hair scuff marks), the labels are beautiful with hardly any spindlewear, comes with the original Atlantic inner sleeve in Excellent condition, very hard to find in top condition (especially with the RL and SS on both sides).  The Robert Ludwig presses are the US 1st pressings (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), and feature Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.  On first copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout.  The true hot press LP's are only for copies with "RL and SS" in both runouts, these are the true "RL" pressings.  Later pressings featuring "RL" on only one side and another engineer's work on the other are, of course, transistional, priced to go.  U.S. buyer to pay $4.00 media mail (priority available upon request).  International buyer please inquire for shipping costs.  Insurance is at the discretion of the buyer.  International buyer please inquire for shipping costs which may include insurance and/or registered mail.
