Description

The Sidewinder was Blue Note's best selling album of all time largely because of the title track's  blend of soul-jazz and R & B. Released as a single, it made the top 100 of the pop charts, and the album quickly sold out. Subsequent releases following the same "formula" (a soul-jazz opener followed by straigt hard bop) weren't quite as commercially successful. The album has made several of the top 100 lists of essential jazz collections.
