Original 1959, MONO pressing of Lem Winchester & Benny Golson - Winchester Special, one of the finer releases from the New Jazz Label. This copy up for auction is an ORIGINAL EARLY deep groove pressing, with RVG in the dead wax on both sides. Sporting a well designed, laminated jacket, with all seams and spine in tact, free from splits. Very fine tight jacket. The prior owner wrote his initials on the top left corner in the back. There is some residue from the original price sticker on the top right of the back cover that can be removed with relative ease. (see photos)
No ring wear. Crisp white, and free of any rubbing or ring wear on the back cover. The labels have initials as well, nothing that obscures any printed label information...(see photos)
At the time of this recording, Winchester was working full time as a police officer and playing gigs at night. This release boasts quite an interesting and well selected line up, consisting of:

Benny Golson and Tommy Flanagan are both so well selected for this date. They both turn in some of their finest performances on this record. Both have impeccable taste, and their combined talent is in full bloom on this somewhat obscure, yet finer releases from New Jazz. 
The original New Jazz purple label with wide deep groove and silver type is a far superior pressing than any of the pressings that followed, including the second Prestige/New Jazz from the 1960's. 
Full and wide range pressing, without distortions on the low end, and bright crystal clear highs. Rudy Van Gelder is to be commended on this records quality all the way through the process for this record alone, not to mention a list of records that have stood the test of time and honor has been bestowed on him for his ear, and his knowledge as to how to record a GREAT performance. 
This copy is a solid audiophile quality pressing
The vinyl is full of luster. Deep Groove original purple and silver labels. RVG in dead wax on both sides...
This is a wonderful record of beautifully arranged and perfectly performed and well selected compositions.
