JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO - 'TWO VIRGINS'
1968 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING* LP
Only 5,000 copies of this album which was released on November 28th 1968. Due to the nature of the cover EMI agreed only to press the discs but refused to handle distribution or print the covers. The distribution was subsequently taken up by Track Records and a small independent printing firm 'Technink' was contracted to print the infamous covers.The 'music' itself was the result of an all-night session of musical experimentation in Lennon's home studio at Kenwood with Yoko Ono and features 'avant-garde' pieces featuring tape loops from John's Mellotron, piano, organ, drums played by John together with sound effects and ad-lib comments and noises with Yoko.
This EXCELLENT copy from that initial UK batch of 5,000 and is on the dark green Apple label with the Track logo & catalogue number: 613012
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text with the 'KT' purchase tax code visible in the center of the side 2 label.
The disc is housed within Technink Limited' printed cover with the printed wording on the 'rear' panel.
Complete with its original die-cut, matt-black inner-sleeve.

Both labels are bright & clean with just two or three spindle trails around each unworn centre hole. The only blemish is a small area or bubbling to the paper on the side 2 label just to the right of the tracklisting where a sticker has obviously been removed.
Visual: 1. EXCELLENT + 2. EXCELLENT
Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and bear no scuffs, marks of scratches of any kind. I have downgraded side 2 slightly due only to a few faint cloudy patches which do not affect the sound in any way. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals nothing further than a sparkling rainbow shine.
Play: EXCELLENT
Clearly not played very much at all, there is no significant deterioration to the sound quality or indeed any major faults throughout. In fact, apart from some minor background during the quieter passages, there is little else to fault on this amazing album.
Cover
EXCELLENT
An extremely respectable example of this infamous cover with clean, bright & unyellowed panels. As is normal for this delicate cover, there is some lifting of the laminate on the front panel towards the spine and a small crack to it in the lower left corner. However, all corners and both opening edges are unworn & undamaged and apart from an unavoidable light disc impression, there is little esle to fault, front or rear. Both seams and the unworded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD
Clean & flat but with a split to each side seam but no further major damage or wear.
