Description
Bargain copy of the rare first UK pressing of Lenny Kravitz's brilliant album Mama Said.
I am selling this as a playing copy. It is obviously used but is a respectable play copy of this album and ideal for anyone collecting the singer's album on a budget. This record has no pops but does have small amounts of ambient surface noise and some ticks as described below.
Please note, I am a very conservative grader of LPs. I do not grade any played record above very good, even if it was near perfect because I think it is dishonest.
Cover: Fair condition. No rips, writing or gashes to the cover but it does have edgewear, most notably to the spine but tha album title is still legible. This does not detract from the iconic album cover. Same for the back cover but there are some indentations and indentation "lines" which are only noticeable if you were holding the sleeve up to the light. The top of the cover has scuffs and has also cracked/split with age rather than abuse. In a plastic cover, all of these imperfections are not especially noticeable but this is entirely subjective of course.
Inner sleeve: Fair-good condition. No splits or rips but there is some creasing which was there from new-one of the creases is on Mr Kravitz's face from an idiot in the factory pulling the sleeve back to put the record in but is only noticeable held up to the light. The sleeve marks easily with finger prints and I believe the sleeve is starting to fox with age because some spots have appeared on it over the years. This is fairly common with paper products over time but is obviously a blemish.
Disc: Fair-good condition. The record plays through from start to finish with no skips or pops but there are marks on the vinyl (hairlines and scuff marks/grazes) and there are some clicks (but not pops-I do know the difference). I have played the record through for this auction and this is the first time it has been played in about 15 years or so. There are some light clicks at the ends of Field of Joy-this is quite a quiet song anyway. Light clicks at the end of Stand by My Woman and some low level repetitive clicks during It ain't over 'til its over... but these are not pops and on my turntable are very much "background".
Bargain copy of this classic album. Not mint by any means but is an ideal play copy-the clicks are light but if this sort of thing bothers you, don't bid on it. Hope it goes to a good Kravitz loving home. UK bidders only unless using the GSP. Thanks.
