Life Transmission, also known in Icelandic as Útfrymi (Ectoplasm), was dedicated to Ian Curtis, singer of Joy Division. (Notes are written in icelandic).
Included with the 7" is a plastic bag with the band name printed in front and an information sheet explaining Þeyr purposes and the work of the device called Scriabin which was designed by guitarist Guðlaugur Óttarsson. Also included is a small card (see pics 5 and 6)

Today, 23 April, is the official publishing day for a little vinyl record of the band Þeyr.
The publishing day, which is also the 1st day of summer, has a deeper meaning, as we have contemplated to introduce summer into the Icelandic music scene, through the chords and rhythms of this record: It is a document of the band’s efforts and subjects during the last four months, as well as an indication to the direction the band is aiming at.
However, in all modesty, we want to point out the fact, that all categorization or classification of Þeyr and their subjects, is not encouraged, and indeed very doubtful, as Þeyr have emphasized to see themselves in the broadest spectrum possible, and in the widest context possible; as we trace our roots into the Rada-music of Africa - through the Russian composers of the early 19th century - up to the four guys from Liverpool.
As we develop these primal elements at different speeds, one newer knows what will surface in the band’s next projects.
This little record is the result of four months of Þeyr’s work: ahead are still more months and still more plans.

After the release of their first album Þagað I Hel which wasn't supposed to be a new wave record at all, the band released their first single "Life Transmission" , showing the band's new direction in music.
Side A: Life Transmission - a mid-tempo post-punk song, sung in English, which has some great guitar riffs and a bass chord which resembles the Stranglers' song "Toiler on the Sea". But the most remarkable thing about this song is the fact that the singer's voice does very much sound like David Bowie. There are also some distorted quitars in the middle section and the song ends with a beautiful coda.
Side B: Heima Er Bezt - is very different from Side A, sung in Icelandic, it starts very slowly with a punk bass chord - then a voice whispers something - drums and leading guitar start playing, the low-key voice is chanting something quite mystically, this chanting is repeated several times during the song. In the middle section there's kind of a jam session between the instruments also the voice has its ad lib part.
With this release Þeyr developed their trademark sound, which is of a one kind in the post-punk sector.
