NOTE:
We have checked both the Rockin' Records price guide and the American Records price guide concerning the difference between the Bluesville cover and the Prestige label. Both books show no record of a Prestige 1073 label. The American Records price guide says there is a Bluesville pressing with a silver trident marking to the right, which we assume is the silver Prestige marking on the label. We are safely assuming that this is a genuine first pressing.
Condition: Cover is VG+. Record is VG+

Sam John Hopkins (March 15, 1912 – January 30, 1982[1]), better known as Lightnin’ Hopkins, was an American country blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and occasional pianist, from Houston, Texas. Rolling Stone magazine included Hopkins at number 71 on their list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.[2]
Musicologist Robert "Mack" McCormick opined that Hopkins "is the embodiment of the jazz-and-poetry spirit, representing its ancient form in the single creator whose words and music are one act".[3]
