Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted.

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

  • Since it is a White Label Promo this is likely a First Pressing. I cannot tell from the matrix.
  • The record has been played but there are no blemishes.
  • The Gatefold cover is single piece board with tight seams and a stiff spine. It shows no wear.
  • A gold embossed Promo stamp is upper right back cover.
  • The paper inner sleeve has lyrics and credits on both sides.
  • Seller acquired this new from Elektra/Asylum in 1976.

Hasten Down the Wind is a Grammy Award-winning 1976 album and her third straight million-selling album. Ronstadt was the first female artist in history to accomplish this feat.  The album earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female in early 1977, her second of a record 11 Grammys. It represented a slight departure from 1974's Heart Like a Wheel and 1975'sPrisoner in Disguise in that she chose to showcase new songwriters over the traditional country rock sound she had been producing up to that point. A more serious and poignant album than its predecessors, it won critical acclaim from critics and the general public alike.

The album showcased songs from artists such as Warren Zevon ("Hasten Down the Wind") and Karla Bonoff ("Someone to Lay Down Beside Me"); both of whom would soon be making a name for themselves in thesinger-songwriter world. A reworking of the late Patsy Cline's classic "Crazy" was a Top 10 Country hit for Ronstadt in early 1977.

Her third album to go platinum, Hasten Down the Wind spent several weeks in the top three of the Billboard album charts. It was also the second of four #1 Country albums for her. Ronstadt's subsequent album was 1977's Simple Dreams, one of her best-selling ever.
