Description

"Little" Jimmy Dickens, "the Grand Ole Opry's most beloved and diminutive ambassador", died on Jan. 2nd. You can read his obituary/biography here.
This auction is for TWO records by "Little" Jimmy (or Jimmie) Dickens. Both are 7" 33-1/3RPM Columbia Microgroove records, produced in 1949. The songs are:

  • Take An Old Cold Tater (And Wait) / Pennies For Papa
  • Country Boy / I'm Fading Fast With The Time
Take An Old Cold Tater (And Wait) was Jimmy's first hit song, recorded in the early spring of 1949, and Country Boy was his second hit, recorded a few months later. Both were recorded on Columbia's groundbreaking Microgroove vinyl discs, which had just been introduced to the music-loving public in June 1948, replacing brittle shellac 78rpm discs as the most popular media for music distribution.

I no longer have a record player, so I can only grade these visually. They appear to be in VG+ (very good plus) condition, with no signs of damage or warp, and very minimal surface wear. The center labels look brand-new with no hole wear. They do not have original sleeves; they are in old Decca generic paper sleeves.
