“Live at Keystone”-Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) Merl Saunders Original 1973 copy.
Classic live double album from the 70’s. Laidback jams of covers and classic blues. Songs by Dylan, Jimmy Cliff and more. Solid band with Saunders on keys, Jerry guitar (duh) and fine musicians from the Bay Area Dead scene John Kahn on bass, and Bill Vitt on Drums. David Grisham plays mandolin on “Positively Fourth Street”. Jerry’s vocals were never better. You can tell that the musicians were playing songs they loved at the time. The interior gatefold photo by Annie Leibovitz is of the best composed album shots. The group and friends including a cop and nun enjoying themselves, you wish you were there. One would suspect that a few or more doobies were rolled on this gatefold.
The vinyl looks to be in great shape, the cover has some dings and ring wear, and the original Fantasy Creedence (I’m sure John Fogerty wasn’t pleased) inner sleeves have some seam splits. Overall remarkable condition for an album almost 50 years old. You can tell it was lovingly handled.
