This unique album features Lloyd Miller on piano, santur, zarb, dan tranh, dan kim, shamisen, tabla and tambura.  Others on the recording are members of Loel Hepworths Jazz Ensemble at the University of Utah.

Side one includes titles such as Amber Eyes, Guzel Guzler, Yona, Natanie, Blue Rue

Side two includes Gol-e Gandom, Hue Wail, Sakura, Impressions of Bhairavi Raga and Midsummer Moon

Lloyd Miller was one of the original innovators of the Oriental Jazz concept which is currently enjoying a revival due to significant radio air-play throughout Europe by DJ's such as Gilles Peterson.  Dr. Lloyd Miller first went to Iran in 1957 and returned for an extended stay of seven years beginning with a Fulbright scholarship in the 1970s.  This resulted in the publication of "Music and Song in Persia: The Art of Avaz" by Curzon Press, London.

After spending many years in Europe during the late1950s and 1960s where he performed with Don Ellis, Eddie Harris, Jef Gilson (soloist and featured on Gilson's first 10" LP) Freddie Deronde, Lennart Jansson, Lars Farnlof and Peter Trunk among others, he returned to the US to continue creating East West jazz blends.

In Utah, Miller won the Intercollegiate Jazz Festival trophies three consecutive years and a national trophy for his East West compositions, some of which are on this album.

Rare item, only 300 pressed, very few available.  Released in 1969 by East-West Records, pressed by Wakefield, Phoenix Arizona.
