Description

 The Tenor Scene Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Johnny Griffin's jam session that occurred at Minton's Playhouse in 1961. To set this LP up, here is some background: At the time Lockjaw Davis was signed to Prestige Records and Johnny Griffin was signed to Jazzland. They were recording nightly at Minton and to satisfy the producers of each label, the recorded enough material for 6 albums, this is one of those records called The Tenor Scene (others were called, Battle Stations, Live at Minton's Sweet and Lovely, etc). This is classic live music with Lockjaw and Johnny being backed by Junior Mance on the piano, Larry Gales on bass and Mon's drummer Ben Riley providing emphatic support. LP is in VG+ condition, it does have light surface marks on either side, nothing major but full disclosure. This is a yellow label, deep groove original pressing. "RVG" stamped in the dead wax and the cover is in VG condition, slight rounding of edges with time and Prestige 7191 as the catalog number. Nice music, nice record and anyone who likes original pressing Prestige deep groove records should be happy with this find. PayPal preferred and overseas bids welcome.
