Lord Brynner wrote The Prisoner after his release from prison.
He was arrested after he cancelled a show as a mark of respect for the death of Mr. Donald Sangster, the Jamaican Prime Minister.
The promoter of the show sued him for the amount he lost due to the cancellation of the show. Brynner spent six and a half months in "Hell". He developed stomach ulcers before the Government and People of Trinidad and Tobago paid his bail.
