I have been collecting and listening to records since 1976. Over the years I have amassed over 2000 LPs and I have listened to every single one of them. I remember visiting friends and families homes and seeing records just sitting in a basement or attic not being played and asked to 'borrow them', hoping that my friends would forget they were lent to me. This was my way of 'liberating' those records, hence the name of the store.

My love for music led me to major in it at the Hartt School of Music where I studied piano with no other than Jaki Byard and Walter Bishop, where the Jazz Dept was headed by Jackie McLean (I have LPs by all three men but I never thought of having them sign it when I was in college). I am now in my 18th year as a teacher in the public schools in south Florida and I also run a recording studio.

 
About 5 years ago the idea of converting all my vinyl into digital format popped into my head and I've been obsessed with the task ever since. I have painstakingly recorded and meticulously scanned over 1500 LPs (liner notes label and all) and these are the ones that will be available in the store. The reason for doing this was selfish at best: I was truly tired of flipping an LP to hear the entire album!!

All 2000 LPs will eventually be listed in the store, and I hope they bring you as much listening enjoyment as they did me. I'm going to safely say that 90% of the records I own are the originals. I did buy a few reissue Horace Silver and Bud Powell etc (at the insistence of Professor McLean, he always use to say: listen to Bud Powell and always try and sing his solos, if you can sing it, then you will be able to play it"). A lot of the records listed will probably be below the market value, I really know nothing about pricing or valuing records. I'll leave that up to you the bidder. I'd rather sell a very rare album for very little than have it boxed up in storage wanting to be liberated.
