Description

An original 1st press of Transformer from 1972 on UK RCA. Matrix 1E/1E -1st cut. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original front laminated cover. This the 1st known variant to enter the retail market. There's a generic inner.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side, one light trail late on side 2 [which sounds briefly - see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with really good clarity. Nice clean output - even into those quieter fussy numbers. Think - Perfect Day and Wild Side..these are notoriously fussy and, at the same time, very popular. This copy is acing them - just a couple of ticks late in Wild Side. A couple of crackles/flutter in the opening seconds of 'Make Up' [no biggy]. The only issue is the mark mentioned above causes 15 or so [in track] ticks in the opening segment of 'Ladies Goodnight'. It, then, cleans out and plays perfect. If you can live with this one issue the rest is total knockout. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) The surfaces are in pretty decent order without the surface wear you often find. On the front expect a few thumbnails and a touch of laminate against the spine edge. The rear looks really good. Minor edge wear and sharp openings. Text on the spine is 90% legible. There's a few stress creases - but nothing worrisome. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
