Description
Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra 10-inch 78 RPM shellac record released by Okeh under catalog number 41350 in 1930. One side features “St. Louis Blues,” composed by W. C. Handy, with matrix number 403495, while the reverse side features “After You’ve Gone,” composed by Turner Layton and Henry Creamer, with matrix number 403454. The recordings were made in New York on December 13, 1929 and November 26, 1929, respectively. This is an important early Louis Armstrong jazz release and the exact Okeh 41350 pairing is documented by the Smithsonian. The record is pre-owned and shows visible surface scratches, scuffs, groove wear, dust, label wear and normal signs of age and previous handling. No obvious complete cracks or major edge chips are visible in the supplied photographs. The record includes the pictured RCA Victor paper sleeve, which does not match the Okeh label and is not the original sleeve for this release. The sleeve is old and worn and may have discoloration, wrinkles, creases, tears, splitting, edge wear and other age-related deterioration. It is included mainly to provide basic protection for the record and should not be expected to be clean, fully intact or collectible. Please review all photographs carefully because they show the exact cosmetic condition of the record, labels and included sleeve. This fragile shellac record will be packed securely between rigid protective materials for shipment.
