Description
This extremely rare 1st French Mono pressing of Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington 'Together For The First Time' on the Roulette label dates from 1961/62 and is very sought after for the incredible audio. Roulette records was started in the 1940s in the U.S., and for this particular release briefly lent out the 3-track session master tape to Vogue records in France. Less than 2,000 pressings were made, ensuring that virtually every one of them would sound stunning. Just holding the record itself with both hands is impressive as the vinyl weighs close to 200 grams. Every nuance in Ellington's playing and all the detail in Armstrong's vocals come through CRYSTAL CLEAR. A really stunning vinyl record and in my opinion beats ALL other pressings....nearly impossible to find in this condition.
Condition of Lp Jacket: Near Mint....one corner (top left) has a slight bump, resulting in an inoffensive 5mm tear..hardly noticeable. 2 slight nicks are seen on the bottom edge, again, very inoffensive and does not change the fact that the condition of this jacket is nothing short of miraculous (have a good look at the photos).
Condition of Record: Near Mint/Excellent ...almost like-new, one can only see some faint hairlines...as if one was transported back in time to a small record shop somewhere in France in the early 60s and paid the store clerk, took the Lp home and removed the record from its sleeve....stunning. I heard only a few scattered "ticks" during 2 songs...the audio is simply remarkable.
