This is the original UK stereo issue, with the rough orange & black Elektra big 'E' labels and the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and A-3 A-2 stampers of the first presses!

The third Love album was recorded at Sunset Sound Recorders Studios, Hollywood from June to September 1967 & released in November 1967 in the USA and in February 1968 in the UK. The band had retreated to the hills of Hollywood during 1967, living together in an old mansion and Arthur Lee's aversion to touring meant the band were unable to capitalize on the success of thier second album Da Capo in 1966. The band was also getting into heavy drugs, which made tensions worse and by the time the band were due to record in June they were not ready. Producer/Engineer Bruce Botnick & Jac Holzman brought in session musicians to assist Arthur Lee and after two sings were recorded the rest of the band came back on board. Only two songs were written by Bruce Maclean the rest by Arthur Lee and orchestral parts were contributed by David Angel. The album did not sell well in the USA, partly due to pressing problems during the initial production, but in the UK it launched Love, just as the band were falling apart, reaching no.24 in the UK!

  The 'Manafactured In Great Britain' fully laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear & light laminate rubbing on the front cover, with some light foxing and some laminate lifting along the spine of the rear cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain die cut company inner is intact & in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines & one or two faint scuffs visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of only one or two very faint spindle markings on either side.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; EKS-74013, A-1 stamper A-3, B-1 stamper A-2, This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK stereo issue of this album!
