Description

Love - S/T Debut LP EKL-4001 (Elektra, UK, 1967)
Second UK Issue, with orange/black Elektra Labels.  In American pasted Sleeve (normal for this release). Mono.  Handwritten matrices 1A-1 / 1B-1
  Condition (I Grade NM / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F)

Sleeve - VG- Sadly, the sleeve has typical problems one associated with US style sleeve, rubbing and ringwear to the surface and split seams.  The one has been fixed discreetly with tape, and feels solid.  Sleeve damage from sticker removal to the top right.  The spline has whitened, obscuring some of the rubric.  Name written top right of the back, but it's hard to make out unless you hold at an angle.  Dog eared corners.  Still nice to look at - apart from the spine, the text is readable.

Vinyl - VG+ quite clean, a slight storage warp, which causes a couple of clicks on side 2 (see below).  Otherwise, there's a few scratches and marks - but the record still has a good lustre and clearly has been looked after.  Labels are OK but both sides have names written on them.  The sound of this record is quite fantastic (played with a Y cable to make the most of the mono sound and cancel out noise) - The presence, force and clarity is incredible, with very little deterioration on the sound at all, with a little crackle, sometimes barely any.  There is some raspiness/silibance/distortion at times, mainly towards the centre of the sides - but a better setup (i have a budget Project turntable with an average cart) *might* be able to conquer it better.   The beginning of Side 2 has a few clicks lasting 2 seconds.  Otherwise, there is hardly any pops, loud clicks and nothing close to a skip or jump.

Who wants this?
The cover might be rough - but this is a fantastic player - not mint by any means, but at times sounding, in my opinion, almost as good as a record can sound.  Punking out with clarity in the loud bits, intimate on the quiet numbers. It certainly has something over any digital version of this album i've heard - and the concentrated mono mix of this album really kicks the stereo out, in my opinion.

I got this record cleaned with a knosti - so if you find residue on your stylus whilst playing it - don't panic - it'll come out eventually.
  POSTAGE -2nd Class Recorded Royal Mail - £4.20.  For 1st Class £5.20.
