By The TimeofDeath Walks Behind You ,,Theband 'SSecond Album , Paul Hammond Had Replaced Carl PalmerOn Drums and John du Canned The trio as singer/guitarist, while group leader Vincent Crane AddedHIS distinctive keyboards and mostofThe Songwriting While Conjuring BassSoundsFromHIS Keyboards as well. The Album gets off To A rip roaring start withThe Should've Been-Classic Title Track, with Its Wonderfully Ominous Intro and Rock Solid Riffs/Grooves There, including Several Exciting Surges and EvenA Singable Chorus. This band Can Really Groove When They UpThe Tempo, Enough so that their average Songwriting, at Times Oblery Plodding Tempos, and Barely Adequate VocalsCan Be overlooked. STILL, On Most of thesis songsTheband earnsThe rightTo Stretch out, and their jam-base interplay is often genuinely interests and exciting. ATOMIC ROOSTER Had some obvious weaknesses and there are A FEW Lulls Along The way, butTheband Stirred their Own Singular Stew With Their Gothic Overtones and Progressive Tendencies, and Death Walks Behind You Stand Tall When Held Up Against Most Other Hard Rock (" HEAVY Metal" would be pushing it, Though Crane's Dark Lyrics FitThe Part) albumFrom 1970. Alas, The band SwitchedToA lessHEAVY Direction Soon Afterwards, and Crane andHIS Rotating castof Musicians inATOMIC ROOSTER Remained so rans FORThe restof Their Career.
