Description
Up for auction is an EXCELLENT copy of PAUL CHAMBERS' 1957 Blue Note classic # 1569 'Bass On Top'. This very much sought after title is in GREAT, GREAT condition! The best copy I've ever seen! The beautiful COVER is in a strong VG++/EXCELLENT condition, i.e. all seams are intact, there's NOT a single crease to the laminated front, the colours are as vivid as 50 years ago, the back panel is still very white and undamaged! The only thing that prevents me from a higher grading of this beauty is due to the fact, that the previous owner put the recording date in blue biro on top of the back panel (please see scan) and that there's a tiny bit of hardly visible lamination peel towards the opening edge of the front cover.
Both LABELS feature the all important deep grooves and the 47 West 63rd Street address. There's NO registry R after the company logo BLUE NOTE. The RVG stamp is engraved in the trail off of on both sides. The B-side label shows a bit of soiling (stockmarks) around the spindle hole and the white part of the BLUE NOTE label. All in all both labels are still very nice and presentable, NO unwanted writing, NO nasty spidermarks! (Please see scans)
The RECORD itself is VERY, VERY clean, i.e. NO marks, NO scratches! It's still VERY, VERY shiny & clean – it's mirrorlike! Playback is just fantastic! I would grade it as VG++/EXCELLENT. Only the first song on the A-side ‘Yesterdays' has the occasional little crackle in the background every now and then. All in all a GREAT keeper copy of this BLUE NOTE rarity, which will not need an upgrade! Satisfaction guaranteed!
The album will be mailed to the lucky winner in a stiff record mailer with extra cardboard stiffeners for full protection!
Thanks for looking & good luck! Please feel free to contact me for further details!
