Luis Gasca was born on 23 March 1940 in Houston, Texas.
He worked in the bands of Stan Kenton and Mongo Santamaria
He was a founding member of Jorge Santana’s Latin Rock group Malo
and also played in Janis Joplin’s Kozmic Blues Band at Woodstock.
