Description
One of the unheralded champions of Cuban conjuntos in both Havana and Miami is Luis Santi. Talented pianist, composer and band leader, He established quite a following in Cuba via dances, radio, records and TV. He also became very popular and influential in Miami in the 1970s and '80s. This is the debut of Mericana Records (MYS 100), a short lived, but high quality catalog of mostly NY based Cuban music groups. As always Luis serves up a variety of rhythms. This session features El Negro Vivar & Roberto Luis Rodriguez in the 4-trumpet section. Felo Brito is one of the soneros-vocalists. This LP features several of Santi's own palenque rhythm that was briefly popular in the early 1970s Miami. Recorded in Miami by the noted producer Tomas Fundora.
