Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors Flames Cover Unopened Factory SEALED 1st Pressing.
This one kinda pains me to put it up for sale. Being a southern boy, Skynyrd is one of my favorites. But it’s time for it to find a new home. Great Christmas gift for anyone who loves southern rock.
This is an original, unopened, factory sealed, like new, mint condition record. Don’t really know what more I can say about it.
Quick backstory, the album was released in Oct. of ‘77. Shortly after it’s release the band’s plane crashed in Mississippi, killing 6 of the 26 passengers, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, Backup singer Cassie Gaines, guitarist Steve Gaines and both pilots. According to rock legend, the widow of Steve Gaines ask MCA Records to change the cover. She felt it made her beloved husband look as if he was “burning in Hell”. MCA agreed, canceling all further “Flames” covers and pulling the ones already on the record store shelves.
Many years later they reissued the album with the original cover. You can spot a First Pressing two ways. 1) the original first pressing has only 8 songs, not 10. 2) the original first pressing does Not have a UPC Code printed on the back. By 1980 all records would have the UPC Code.
