Original 1970 first pressing vinyl on the sought obscure Metromedia label. The label that issued CHRISTOPHER...but that's another story...with GYPSY, a melodic hardrock hippie crew who delivered a couple/few fine collectible albums, none better in our esteemed esitmation than this, their second, with a terrific gimmix gatefold peephole cover...
This group has matured greatly with this second album. The basic music is structured much like their first LP, but the sound is more together and the guitar work by James C Johnson and organ, played by Jimmy Walsh, seems The focal point of the group's maturity. "As Far As You Can See" is an enchanting education; while the second side of the LP contains one view of paradise entitled "Here in the Garden," and two other explicitly thrilling tunes. Overall an extremely underrated band. This album contains the tight harmonies that are the bands signature sound. Guitar/organ work also tight and well-played. Percussion work on Here In The Garden is outstanding. Listen to the lyrics of As Far As You Can See and Blind Man. Gypsy made three very good albums -- GYPSY made music that you need to listen to in order to fully appreciate. Outstanding track is here of course the 12-min piece "As Far As You Can See" sounding highly versatile with several mood and tempo shifts ... Definite worth owning.
