NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound' to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed. Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.
We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week. Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most. We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping. We are happy to do that. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. Most importantly, we appreciate your business.

1974 SCARCE ORIGINAL...all about the jazzy Bluesy Beaknik thing
TOM WAITS
The Heart Of Saturday Night
USA -ASYLUM RECORDS - 7E 1015
VERY CLEAN....scarce 1974 ORIGINAL first pressing:
***STILL IN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINK WRAPPER***
Contains the elusive original LYRICS insert
This 1974 album offers a very varied and interesting listen and showcases an artist effortlessly producing music at an early stage in his development. This album, just like the debut, is very accessible and would be a good start point for anyone interested in discovering what Tom Waits has to offer. Jazzy, bluesy, brilliant vocals and interesting lyrics.
Tom Waits? One thing you can say about his early stuff is that it's cool. Not like the experimental stuff isn't, but this... it's just a different kind of cool. The jazz connection definitely has something to do with it but just as important is the early Tom Waits persona. On later records, he comes off as a creep. An interesting creep, but a creep regardless. Here, he seems just... well, cool, a hipster who's genuinely hip, a Humphrey Bogart-esque Grizzled Embodiment of Awesome singing about the nightlife.
And man, this is the PEAK of the early period, even higher than more acclaimed (and great, of course) albums like Closing Time and Small Change. This is the epitome of Tom Waits' appeal, and quite possibly the best of his albums. The ballads here, particularly "San Diego Serenade" and "Shiver Me Timbers," are better than anything Mr. Waits has ever done in the idiom except for "Tom Traubert's Blues" (and "Ol' 55" and "I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love with You"). Besides, "Shiver Me Timbers" brings back fantasy memories of being a pirate. You can try to resist the charms of a song like "Drunk on the Moon" = love that stand-up bass.
The finest moments of this record are when Tom just lets his bad-ass jazz hipster side loose. "New Coat of Paint" is probably the strongest of a fantastic lot -- all for the cynical lyrics, the magnetic beat, and the MOOD of the thing. It gives the feel of walking around the streets at night like you own the place. That feeling never goes away, either, and often comes in at full force ("Semi Suite," and especially "Drunk on the Moon," which might even be better. The speedy bit sounds like John Coltrane circa Blue Trane). Tom's unforgettable vocals are at their best on "Depot, Depot," and he pulls the beatnik thing off excessively well on both "Diamonds on My Windshield" and "The Ghost of Saturday Night."
