You’re looking at an original pressing of Mad Season’s only studio album “Above”. Recorded in 1994, it was a side project of members of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, The Walkabouts, and Screaming Trees.
The album cover features artwork by the late Layne Staley, who was the original vocalist of Alice In Chains. This pressing includes two LPs and side 4 features an etching of the words MAD SEASON.
Condition
The album sleeve is in excellent condition inside the gatefold and out, HOWEVER there is a snip cut off the upper right corner.
Both records have flaws.
The first LP is bowed. SIDE 1 plays fine except for Wake Up and half of X-Ray Mind (needle hops to middle of track 2 then plays fine from there). I’m Above and River of Deceit play fine. SIDE 2 plays fine except for Lifeless Dead (hops to the next song). Artificial Red and Long Gone Day play fine.
The second LP has a warp on the edge and makes the outer song (“I Don’t Know Anything”) unplayable. The end half of November Hotel and All Alone play fine. SIDE 4 is etched.
This is a rare collectible item for any grunge/alt rock fan. The sleeve itself has hardly any flaws other than the cut corner. But please consider the condition of the records.. 5 out of the 10 tracks are unplayable.
