Description
L'International Challal D'Hamed Gazonga Unknown date but most likely 1980's. A classic scarce album attracting some high prices and, apparently 'wanted'. We shall see......Tangent Records are always really good.
CONDITION: Please read. I bought this record 2nd (maybe more)hand in the 1990's. I played it a few times but for a long while have not been able to play my vinyl-hence why I sold a lot of it a few years back. So, I cannot now say what condition the record is in but, from memory, it seemed to play ok. I have rated the record 'Good' to cover myself. When I look closely at the record at an angle in a bright light I can see that there are some scratch marks on side A particularly to the track 'Koysse'. I don't remember there being any particular issues but reckon,looking at it, there may well be clicks on this track. Side B seems ok. The album cover seems ok-some rubbing on edges and an old price sticker.

As part of a long-winded (since 2016) clearing of various collections in an effort to get more space I am listing another part of my old Congolese/East African music collection. Most of this music on vinyl has already sold a few years back (but not all - check my other items as i will be adding some LPs after the cassettes are listed).
In another life I did some African music promotion -Sam Mangwana, Orchestre Virunga, Syran etc and many of these tapes come from that era 30 years ago in the 1990's. They were collected in the UK but also in Paris in the Chateau Rouge area whilst others came from music stalls in Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam. Others are licensed from Mali or Ivory Coast. Some have selections which have never appeared in Europe.

Many of the musicians have now passed but what a legacy they left behind! Joyous music for today's depressing times. If you have clicked on the item, and are still reading this, then I suspect that I am writing for the already converted. It's a niche genre but wonderful.
