This is FADHILI WILLIAM’S first album on the 1977 EMI (East Africa) Limited label – recorded in Nairobi. But what has FADHILI has done is to breathe new life into songs that have loved for a long time, without, if I must mention it, losing the original touch.
It is really an amalgam of anthems of love, odes to love and happy married life, and all that is romantic. Yes! For FADHILI’s lyrics have, throughout the years he has reigned the scene, come out as true romantic poetry that counsels not only the lover but also the loved… and the ten tracks on this album prove it all.
He is a vocalist, composer, arranger, producer and guitarist par excellence. He has, over the years, performed with many visiting international artistes – Louis ‘Satchmo’ Armstrong, Herbie Mann, Cliff Richard, Roger Whittaker and more recently, Helen Shapiro and Indian performer Usha Uthup. The wedding ring, as he sings n the track Pete ni Alama, is the sign. Let this album be the sign that there is yet more to come from a man who has definitely put Kenya’s music on the international map.
