Description

This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the debut LP by British impresario and sometimes performer Malcolm McLaren, released in 1983.  McLaren, of course, rose to fame -- or perhaps more accurately, infamy -- as the manager of the Sex Pistols.  After a few more managerial stints (notably with Bow Wow Wow), he started performing himself.  "Buffalo Gals," a radical remake of a traditional American folk tune as a novelty hip hop song, was an early appropriation of rap, and a sizable hit in 1982.  It's on this LP along with similar instances of cross-cultural borrowing (or theft, if you prefer): "Double Dutch," "Soweto," "Legba" (one of the gods from Vodoun), etc.  Questions of artistic ethics aside, there wasn't much else that sounded like this at the time, certainly not in the top 40.  The jacket has one flaw of note: some sticker residue on the front cover (see photo).  It's otherwise close to M- with a little ring, corner, and seam wear and light creasing along the spine -- EX(-).  The disc has a couple of superficial dings on side 2 and some scuffing, and plays with occasional surface noise (EX+).  The record comes with a six-page foldout insert (M-).

I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades.  All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets.  The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves.  I have play graded (spot checked) all discs except where otherwise noted.

If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
