Description
‘Mama’ Béa Tékielski (France): Pour Un Bébé-Robot (RCA PL 37203, 1978)
Original French pressing on the Isadora-RCA label from 1978.
Laminated gatefold sleeve is EX. Record is in NEAR MINT condition.
Demonic virtuoso Polish-born vocalist Mama Bea Tekielski delivered powerful rants that mixed pure sonic experiment and Patti Smith-style anger on her fantastic albums. Featured on the Nurse with wound list of influences.
Here is a review from Richard Falk:
Incorporating elements from black music (funk, jazz, even dub) into her unique sound, Tékielski continues to put clear blue water between herself and Catherine Ribeiro with this laid-back yet intense set of declamations. Overall, this is perhaps her most consistent album.
Might appeal to fans of experimental, Joan La Barbara, Meredith Monk, Diamanda Galas, Tamia, John Cage, Pierre Henry, musique concrete, Broken Music, Stockhausen, Xenakis, AMM, David Tudor, Pierre Schaeffer, Henri Chopin, Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Alvin Curran, Stockhausen, Xenakis, La Monte Young, Nurse with wound, Asmus Tietchens, Zoviet France, Hafler Trio, John Duncan, Leif Ellgrenn, Hausswolff, Merzbow, Organum and similar!
