MANFRED MANN GO UP THE JUNCTION (Original Soundtrack recording from the film ''UP THE JUNCTION'') 1968 CAT No. 687 983TL  FONTANA LABELS! ((MONO)) NEAR MINT VINYL AND AUDIO BARELY EVER PLAYED MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES EVER!! REARLIEST #1#1 MATRIX ENDINGS K.T. TAX CODE STAMPED ON SIDE 2.

Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and only ever played to record to tape. This 43 year old record has only ever been played two or three times ever! Very rare to find like this! This is the original 1st UK Mono pressing in awesome top condition throughout, becoming impossible to find like this!!

Up the Junction was a 1963 novel written by Nell Dunn depicting contemporary life in the industrial slums of Battersea near Clapham Junction!!.

The book uses colloquial speech, and its portrayal of petty thieving, sexual encounters, births, deaths and back-street abortion provided a view of life that was previously unrecognised by many people of the time!

This film version was directed by Peter Collinson was released in 1968 and was adapted by Roger Smith. It starred Suzy Kendall, Susan George, Dennis Waterman, Adrienne Posta and Maureen Lipman. With a soundtrack by Manfred Mann it vividly captured the feel of what it was like to live in that decade in a similar manner to another film of the era, Alfie!..

Manfred Mann were a British beat, rhythm and blues, pop, and cover band of the 1960s, named after their South African keyboardist Manfred Mann, who later led the successful 1970s group Manfred Mann's Earth Band!.

Manfred Mann were chart regulars in the 1960s, and the first south-of-England-based group to top the US Billboard Hot 100 during the so-called British invasion!!

The Matrix

Side1. ''687983  1L v 1''

Side2  ''687983 2L #1''

The vinyl

This lays perfectly flat on the turntable! Important note! this is the original thick and chunky type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings these have deeper grooves than later reisues and are much more robust!

On initial inspection this looks superb (almost like new) retaining its glossy apearance from new! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would  be sleeve removal, (To be honest I find it hard to se any), importantly (no) nasty needle scratches at least none that would cause any loud clicks or pops!

The Audio

I have played this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system, importantly, using a dedicated mono cartridge!  It is truly awesome cristal clear and vibrant throughout with absolute  near perfection on my systems, a real deep bassey feel, only found like this on the earliest pressings!!     (none) of the usual crackle or pops during the audio that are normally associated with vinyls of this age! Any static was very minimal in between tracks only just superbe throughout!

In my opinion this plays with true excellence! I played this through two times prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system ! The audio is cristal clear and extreemely vibrant throughout! This plays without any signs of distortion and i heard  (no) loud clicks or pops during the audio at all!  The audio is cristal clear and vibrant all the way through with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed at all ! There is (no) Distortion and (no) loud clicks or pops during the play of the audio and certainly (no) jumps or skips,  Very Light static only, may be evident during some of the quiet parts but nothing in my opinion that spoilt the overall enjoyment Truely awesome  bassey feel only found on these 1st pressings in my opinion due to the charactoristics!,, Pressed from the earliest matrix also the materials used to press these early pressings are more thicker and heavier with deeper grooves produce the best for audio quality!! I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! I would grade the audio quality at least excellent Plus, to near perfect for the most part in my opinion!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case all of its storagelife!,, with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover! This is how i have always stored my records! A build up of dirt and dust over the years from laying dormant causes static tick or crackle! A constant clean before each play is recomended!,, from my personal experiance this greatly reduces this static and subsequently enhances the audio quality!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd very light static tick (not consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 1st press that is 43 years old and would have originally been played on a 43 year old system, also it is important to note that this vinyl has barely had only two or three plays only, unbeleivable for a 43 year old record!

The labels

These are the original 1st issue black\silver Fontana labels. in awesome condition, I can just barely see just one spider mark only, can be seen only angled  to the light! Little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round! This has obviously barely ever been played! Featues the K.T. tax stamper on side two (only 1st press)

The Cover!

This is the original Un-Laminated  1st press flimsy type of  cover with flipbacks at the rear  (only 1st press) ! (no) splits tares or nasty  handwriting and amaizingly (no) real nasty creases to talk of so very hard and almost impossible to ever find like this! maybe just a hint of spotting at the rear with age but nothing that is noticable unless scrutinised! This must grade as Excellect if not better in my opinion!
