MARC MOULIN "PLACEBO SESSIONS 1971-1974" DOUBLE LP
Released by COUNTERPOINT in 1999
"Recorded between 1971-74, this collection of tracks from Marc Moulin's three highly sought after LP's under the Placebo guise. In his linernotes to this album, Kirk Degiorgio describes the music of Placebo after hearing it for the first time.."A funk album with 70's cop show horn arrangements, breaks and hip hop style beats, and killer Rhodes solos, all recorded by a bunch of hitherto unknown white dudes."
Marc Moulin is an important link between today's electronically dominated dance music scene and it's more left-field origins in late 60'jazz composition. His use of electronic instruments and synths, over dubbing and sound processing, alongside jazz and soul horn arrangements was decades ahead of it's time. This album captures the finest moments from Placebo's brief but highly fertile recording career"
