BODY AND SOUL / I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by MARIA GRAZIA FRANCIA con IL QUARTETTO de I SOFISTICATI. Original Italian pressing on the ADVENTURE label (1115), from 1960. Super-obscure and desirable vocal jazz single by the Italian film actress and singer backed by crack session players. Maria's version of BODY AND SOUL is one of the hottest female vocal themes from the early '60s Italian jazz scene (also the very best tune from her Adventure label AVE 122 EP). Smouldering, sex kitten vocals sung in English over a sophisticated jazz quartet featuring walking basslines / brushes and beautiful vibraphone solo. Think Maria Moris / Lilian Terry / Helen Merrill with an American film noir style sound. I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT is a stylish, modern jazz instrumental featuring piano and vibes. This theme is unique to this single (so never included on the aforementioned EP). Same cult label as Modern Jazz Gang - Miles Before And After / Trio Amedeo Tommasi - Zamboni 22 etc. Never comes up for sale. Very rare 45!!! Please see our other current auctions for the Caterina Villalba & Orchestra Jolly - Cammina - vocal jazz single.

Musicians:

Sergio Battistelli - vibraphone

Giorgio Zinzi - piano

Pino Liberati - double bass

Peppino D'Intino - drums

Maria Grazia Francia - vocals

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with some light hairlines from sleeve removal. Surface noises and the odd soft pop but common for Adventure label singles, in general. Record housed in custom Adventure label sleeve. Very rare 45!!!

Please feel free to contact us with any condition queries you may have preferably before bidding. We will get back to you asap.
