Description
Here's one of my all time favourite Musical Comedy performances! It's Marie Burke, singing her Original Cast role of Julie in the British production of the Jerome Kern musical 'Showboat' in 1928. On side 1 she sings the stunningly beautiful Kern and P.G. Wodehouse song 'Bill' and on the reverse she is joined by the all-black Mississippi Chorus (which included blues singers Elizabeth Smith and Victoria Spivey) for their fine version of 'Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man'. Both sides are beautifully recorded in the Drury Lane Theatre with the theatre orchestra conducted by Herman Finck. They are on 12" Columbia 9427. CONDITION: EE+ my old copy
