Marillion : Misplaced Childhood A - 1U / B - 1U 1st Press 1985 inc Merch Sheet (Black labels)
Time is against me so I am unable to describe each track with the usual detail but rest assured I will keep to my own high end standards. I will still play each track in full so as to give a 'complete' grade.
This first pressing plays with exceptional quality and NO interference. In essence the audio is 'as new' and it clearly has hardly ever played based on the audio, the visual quality of the vinyl and that there is barely any spindle wear. It is a FINAL URGRADE in every sense, it just could not play any better. The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is stunning. The cover is also in fantastic condition.
This first pressing has an A1U / B1U matrix and has black labels. The run out is stamped although A B I is etched.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition with a superb glossy sheen and no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only detect a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines which have no impact on the audio. The labels are super clean with only a couple of minor spindle traces on each.
Play grading
This classic album opens with a near perfect version of 'Pseudo Silk Kimono' which plays with superb clarity and only a couple of minor ticks. 'Kayleigh' and 'Lavender' then play like the record was pressed only yesterday and 'Bitter Suite' is equal to that. The clarity, depth and power is absolutely stunning and every section, even the quiet ones, play beautifully. 'Heart Of Lothian' completes the side with supreme power and clarity once more and no distortion. What A Side! It is Mint- at the very least!
'Waterhole (Expresso Bongo)' on S2 plays to perfection and 'Lords Of The Backstage' is just as strong. No background not even a dust tick! The segue into 'Blind Curve' is flawless and this clarity is kept up as it progresses including the very quiet Perimeter Walk section. The playback is STUNNING, I haven't heard it play as well as this for years! The remainder also grades as Mint there are no negatives. 'Childhood's End?' and 'White Feather' end the side high end audio and no interference.
The Gatefold, Merchandise Insert & Inner Sleeve
The cover has been preserved beautifully and has no obvious wear really. A couple of minor corner rubs that's about it. The edges and wide spine are incredibly clean and the opening edge has no handling wear. The front and back cover and the inside are immaculate without any marking - this is one stunning example! The merchandise insert is in perfect condition and the original poly-lined die-cut inner is also in superb shape with only very minimal creasing.
