Script For A Jester's Tear A-2U / B-3U
This final upgrade archive pressing plays with perfect audio from start to finish. The previous owner advised me this had only been played once to record to 'tape' and the stunning audio and visual quality of the vinyl supports this. You will not hear better! A fantastic example of this now 35 year old album.
I also purchased 'Fugazi' from the same owner and that is also in fantastic condition (on a separate listing).

Visual grading
This vinyl looks brand new! It has an incredible mirror like glossy sheen and there are no hairlines, marks or scratches at all. It looks like it was pressed yesterday! The cream labels are in superb shape and have only one tiny spindle trace on S1, nothing on S2. This vinyl has been superbly well preserved and the run out grooves are also supremely clean. A pristine example of this classic debut album that plays as good as it looks! Only one play!
Play grading
With no lead in static on S1 you are expecting superlative audio and it does not disappoint! The opening section on 'Script...' plays with fantastic clarity and only a couple of minor dust ticks. This is truly rare as this album is now 35 years old and of course this part plays so quietly. It continues to play with Mint quality audio and with no distortion on the top level. The emotive end section is just so clear and again grades as Mint and has to be the most impressive I have heard in many a year. The long fade out plays with perfect precision. Quite honestly this classic opening track is just breathtaking and sounds 'as new'. 'He Knows You Know' again can be graded as Mint the clarity and depth is awesome! The one quiet section has no 'background' of any kind and the remainder plays with a definition that is so sharp and precise. 'The Web' ends S1 with, you guessed it, audio of the highest quality. There is no need for a Mint- this is just Mint from beginning to end. The power and clarity is again first class and could not be any better. This side is 'as new' and that is no exaggeration. In a word stunning.
Suffice to say 'Garden Party' plays to the same standard. A beautifully clear intro with no interference - not even a solitary dust tick! Incredible. As for the rest all I heard was one light click which you can find on any vinyl let alone one of this age. The clarity and sonic quality is of 'high end' quality. 'Chelsea Monday' has so many quiet sections and yet they all play with the same supreme clarity. This classic easily grades as Mint I have never heard better. I don't wish to enthuse too much but I can't quite believe what I am hearing here! This is 35 years old! You expect some light 'background' at the very least but there is just nothing that interferes with the Mint quality audio. The guitar solos play with incredible accuracy and no distortion. Superb dynamic clarity and power from note one. 'Forgotten Sons' again plays with astounding sound from the very first note. Having played every second I can safely say this final track plays with sublime definition all the way through and with only a couple of mega light dust ticks during the super quiet bass section. The all powerful closing section is Mint without doubt and you can turn the volume up without fear of distortion. An absolutely stunning version!
In summary this album is a classic museum piece, a final upgrade archive pressing if ever there was one. With only one play this vinyl has been incredibly well preserved and plays 'as new'. I have no reason to doubt what the previous owner told me - that this has only been played the once and indeed the clarity and depth of the recording and the visual look of the vinyl confirm this. With a near perfect cover and lyric inner this would add to any 'archive' collection.
The Gatefold
The gatefold is in superb condition and has lost none of its vibrant colour. The edges are almost as new bar one mega tiny rub on the top edge of the front cover. The wide spine is also super clean with only a hint of rubbing on the top and bottom. This really is one superb cover - the front, back and inside of the gatefold are so impressive and it looks as good as the day when first released back in '83. The opening edge has no handling wear providing further proof that this vinyl has hardly ever seen a turntable. It would be nigh on impossible to find a cleaner version cover, absolutely stunning!
The Inner
The die-cut poly-lined 'Important Notice' inner is in superb shape with no splits or marking and no creasing either.
The labels
The original cream coloured labels are 'as new' with only one miniscule spindle trace on the S1 label. They don't come cleaner than this! There is no marking or writing and are are in 100% Mint condition!
