Description
MARKS & LEBZELTER
Rock And Other Four Letter Words
Columbia Masterworks 7193 scarce '68 quite interesting psych-spoken concept LP. According to Mutant Sounds blog:
groundbreaking landmark of dada rock and soundbyte collage owes a huge debt to Zappa's pioneering work on Lumpy Gravy. Mix that up with the "everybody must eat rhubarb pie" portion of Friendsound and the cut on Aphrodites Child's 666 with Irene Pappas' insane "I am To Come I Was" rant and then array amongst all the above a passel of audio snippets from a rogues gallery of rock notables circa 1968, including everyone from Brian Wilson to Grace Slick to Pete Townshend to Tim Buckley, their verbal expoundings arrayed for maximum non sequitur value and you might be getting close to grasping what Messrs. Marks and Lebzelter were getting at with this mad release. A mindbomb.
