MARSUPILAMI – Arena. Long Hair LHC 257. German release. FACTORY SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1971 on Transatlantic Records. This edition issued in 2021. Comes in a heavy board stock gatefold cover. DESCRIPTION:  This, the second album by Marsupilami, was an ambitious concept one about the brutality of the ancient Roman culture involving not less than eight musicians. Interestingly produced by Peter Bardens whose band Camel was still waiting for their big success at that time. On Arena the band had refined and further improved their progressive sound by adding Mellotron, sax, electric piano, more woodwinds and percussion. But the central instrument still remains the Hammond played incredibly and skillfully by Leary Hasson covering its full potential spectre. Apart of the involvement of more instruments the most striking difference from their debut is that the compositions here are much less catchy and very intricate with a rather strong jazz influence at times leaning towards RIO. Thus this one needs definitively a few spins to fully appreciate the quality of this band and their music, but well worth the investment.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

$1.25 for each additional single LP set and/or

$1.50 for each additional double LP set.
