MARTY PAICH THE BROADWAY BIT WARNER BROS W 1296 1ST ISSUE 1959 Cover: VG+ 3" split to spine, other edges sound Original inner sleeve: front has photo of the Warner factory; the back has a series of photos showing music being recorded, mixed, pressed, inspected, shipped and purchased- 'A satisfied customer has purchased the recording from your neighborhood music dealer'- I wish they still existed (still there's always Jazz House Records on the web). A lovely period piece. Label: Grey, with the WB logo on a yellow badge. Groove (more shallow than deep!) under the label Vinyl: VG++ Astonishly good quality for a record of this age. No surface noise or scuffs- 1 very light mark which does not sound at all. Bright shining vinyl. This is the much rarer mono pressing of this highly collectable album, with Marty Paich's arrangements of broadway tunes played by a biggish band. What makes it very special is the presence of the great bassist Scott laFaro, best known for his work with Bill Evans & Paul Motian, who died tragically young and made only a few recordings.
