I just listened to this magnificent LP through headphones from beginning to end -- twice. The vinyl's in great shape. I'm always hesitant to grade an older record NM; I don't want to mislead anyone. But, as I mentioned, I listened to this LP twice, and I didn't hear a thing wrong with it. ... [After grading it NM and listing it, I examined the vinyl closer, at the request of a potential bidder. I had looked before, but I just looked again -- looking at the vinyl under a bright light, tilting it every which way, and I saw no scratches or blemishes. Then, however, I took it outside in direct sunlight. I saw lots of "scratches" -- I guess you'd call them superficial scratches. I had never done that before with a record, and maybe they all have them, well, the used ones anyway. As a result, I changed the vinyl grade to VG+. I'd love to hear from you: Did I do the right thing? Is examining a record outside in direct sunlight necessary, or does looking at it inside under a bright light suffice?] ... The gatefold sleeve isn't in such good shape. It's got a lot of wear (see photos), but, oddly, when I tried gently to open the gatefold it was stiff; I'm pretty sure it's never been opened all the way. ... LP will be removed from cover, placed in archival inner and outer sleeves and packed in secure mailer with cardboard inserts.
