GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : grande coppia di musicisti per un'ottima colonna sonora ricca di musica jazz talvolta in fusione con altre tipologie sonore. Maggiori sono stati gli sforzi del musicista Giapponese sia per il maggiore numero di composizioni e per gli arrangiamenti di tutti i brani. Inoltre suona le tastiere nell'album. Certamente non di poco conto il lavoro del grande jazzista Belga che oltre alle composizioni è presente in tutte le tracce con l'armonica oltre alla chitarra ed al fischio. S'incomincia con una spendida canzone dai sapori soul, jazz e pop magnificamente interpretata da Nancy Wilson (a1). Tra le altre tracce: "Joy" (a3) bel jazz con l'armonica ben supportata da basso e batteria. "Gentle Snow" (a6) che ha una fase iniziale romantica con l'armonica poi un rombante basso con tastiere e batteria e l'ottimo fischiettio di Thielemans danno vita ad una notevole ritmicità. Un'altra convincente dimostrazione di bel jazz può essere ascoltata in "A Man Once Lived in Minami" (b1) con basso, armonica e pianoforte. "Dear Memories" (b2) combina egregiamente un tema nostalgico evocato dalle tastiere con le belle improvvisazioni jazz dell'armonica. "Black Overcoat" (b3) è un magnifico tema dalle atmosfere nostalgiche riflesse nel suono dell'armonica e del piano con il basso e la batteria in supporto fino ad un aumento della pressione sonora che il jazzista Belga conferisce attraverso splendide sonorità jazzistiche. Infine "Love and Solitude" (b5) con il lento procedere dell'armonica in una sorta di malinconico blues metropolitano che tramite il successivo coinvolgimento del basso e della batteria prende vigore fino a trasformarsi in un trascinante brano jazz. One begins with a lovely song from soul, jazz and pop flavors magnificently performed by Nancy Wilson (a1). Among the other tracks: "Joy" (3), nice jazz with the harmonica well supported by bass and drums. "Gentle Snow" (a6) which has a romantic beginning through the harmonica later a rumbling bass along with keyboards and drums and the excellent whistle of Thielemans give life to an impressive rhythmicity. Another convincing demonstration of excellent jazz can be heard in "A Man Once Lived in Minami" with bass, harmonica and piano (b1). "Dear Memories" (b2) brilliantly combines a nostalgic theme evoked by the keyboards with beautiful jazz improvisations of harmonica. "Black Overcoat" (b3) is a magnificent theme from the nostalgic atmospheres reflected in the sonorities of harmonica and piano with bass and drums in support until to an increase in sound pressure that the Belgian jazzman gives with beautiful jazzy music. Finally, "Love and Solitude" (b5) from the slow development led by harmonica in a kind of metropolitan melancholy blues that through the subsequent participation of bass and drums takes intensity until becoming an engaging jazz piece.
