Description

About this record : Original 1977 LP by Matthew Larkin Cassell "Pieces" on private pressing 142930. Rare LP (only 250 were actually pressed!) and autographed! Mr. Matt Cassell is a songwriter, keyboard player, vocalist and guitarist from San Francisco Bay Area. He is known for his jazzy, soulful-pop recordings which are all limited/private press vinyl releases. The 1977 LP "Pieces" recorded in the SF Bay Area has become highly collectible. Just check out the prices here and there... This is very hip work from this Bay Area 70s singer -- sweetly jazzy, and with a nice undercurrent of soul -- one that's ripe for rediscovery! There's a wonderful mix of moods going on here -- a quality that perfectly sums up the genre-trading aspect of the Bay Area scene back in the day -- a place where elements of jazz, soul, and mellow rock could mingle together in a unique blend, with qualities that were always way more than the parts of the whole! Cassell's keyboard work is especially nice -- always warm and jazzy, with sweet electric touches that underscore his vocals -- and given that the only other instrumentation is guitar, bass, and drums, there's plenty of room for the keys to soar out nicely. The vocals are great too -- often a bit compressed in the production, and set to some wonderful self-penned lyrics that are right up there with the best 70s work of this type. Titles include "Heaven", "Ecoutez Moi", "Beggin To Stay", "Holiday", "Another Day Gone", "In My Life", and "One Night". As a reference point, Goldmine Record Album price guide lists a Near Mint edition of this title at $UNLISTED. As far as MY edition is concerned, Record is NM (just great!) ; plain paper inner sleeve ; cover is VG+ (tyniest amount of ring wear mostly on back cover though, all seams are solid-see pic.) ; labels are NM. A great opportunity to get such a rare copy at such a ridiculous price! Most of the time, I ship using brand new record mailer packaging (occasionally good condition recycled). The shipping is FREE if you want me to ship within the USA!!! No matter how many records you buy from me the shipping charges ARE ON ME!!! YES, you read it right. So, feel free to buy a bunch of records for a starting price lower than most sellers' S&H fees (let alone the records!). Think about how much it would cost you in gas just to get to your closest record store!!! Probably more than the starting price I'm offering :-) If you live in Canada please add $5 for the first LP (Double LP's count as two), then +$2 per LP. If you live anywhere else in the world that I ship to please add a $20 for the first 2 LP's then an extra $5 per 1 or 2 extra LP's. Can't make it any better for you guys!!!!!!
