Description

What It Is:

Matthew Sweet's great Girlfriend album was released on CD in 1991. There were rumors of a colored vinyl promo edition (but I've never seen one and I've really looked). It wasn't until a little later when Classic Records pressed a run of the only generally available vinyl version of this album. Then it went out of print.

This copy has been treated a little roughly (see condition below), but is still an enormously enjoyable listen. When Richard Lloyd, or particularly Robert Quine rip into a super cool guitar solo in the midst of these perfect power pop songs, you can't help but think it is just perfect.

If you have any concerns about my feedback rating: Please read the story about my single negative feedback in 11 years on eBay. Tracks are: Side 1
  1. Divine Intervention
  2. I've Been Waiting
  3. Girlfriend
  4. Looking at the Sun
  5. Winona
  6. Evangeline
Side 2
  1. Day for Night
  2. Thought I Knew You
  3. You Don't Love Me
  4. I Wanted to Tell You
  5. Don't Go
  6. Your Sweet Voice

Details:

discs: one 12" vinyl record
label: Classic Records
catalog #: 72445-11015-1
country of origin: US
copyright (generally, release) year: 1991
shipping weight: 1 pound, 3 ounces

Condition:

jacket: VG+. bottom right corner creased, spine roughed up (not split, but looks almost cut) top to bottom. But the laminated front and rear are clean and have only very light ring wear.
record:
(visual) VG
. labels beautiful, no spindle marks, BUT, there are audible scratches at the front of both sides (see play grade below), and few hairlines.
(play-graded) VG . The scratches mentioned above cause noticable pops in the first song of either side (Divine Intervention, and Day for Night), though most of the noise is over on side 2 before the song really starts. The the second song on either side and through the end, the condition improves to VG+ and VG++ at times. Other than the scratches, there is some light surface noise throughout, but once the music is playing it is generally unobtrusive. No groove damage. I've just played both sides, and the sound quality is so good (the songs too) that the noise is generally forgivable.

Grading standards:

All items are visually graded, and if they've been play graded that will be noted. I follow Goldmine grading standards. My grading is conservative, at least as good as I would expect from anyone that I would buy from.

Payment:

I accept PayPal or personal checks (personal checks must clear before I ship). If you must return the item, it must be in the same condition that I sent it, but I will refund your full purchase price and return shipping cost within the USA (outside of the USA, I'll refund the bid price, but you must pay for return shipping unless I've made a serious error, in which case I'll pay shipping too) -- I guarantee your satisfaction.

Shipping cost and Insurance:

Within the USA: I ship via the US Postal Service, priority and media mail. Costs are based on the shipping weight and package size. Please contact me for shipping to other locations. As always, if your winning bid is above $50, I will pay for insurance within the USA.

Outside of the USA: I'm willing to ship outside of the USA, cost based on the winner's address and size and weight of the package. I usually insist on airmail for reasonable delivery time and better handling. I state the shipping size and weight in the ad so that you'll have an idea of cost, though final determination of shipping cost will occur when the auction completes. Unfortunately I can't offer free insurance as it often gets quite expensive for overseas shipment, however, I strongly advise that you select insurance as I cannot be responsible for delivery in another country.

A note about customs declarations: I will mark all auction wins as merchandise and list the winning bid as its value. Please don't ask to have it marked as a gift, or at a lesser price -- that only risks legal action (because it is fraud), and if customs opens the item they will probably charge you a customs fee anyway if they think that it goes over the legal value of a gift.

Thanks for looking and bidding!
