Description
"Composers Corner at MGM" featuring Max Steiner MGM 988/989
MGM Mailer Condition: VG- (this is a fragile vintage original record mailer. It is separated completely at the top seam, along with some tears, bumps and aging. Record will be shipped in a separate generic cover to help avoid any further damage during transit). Vinyl Condition: VG+. (vinyl is glossy and clean with only some inner sleeve impressions and a couple superficial marks.)
Notes: An incredibly rare promotional LP featuring an interview with the legendary Oscar-winning composer Max Steiner by Dick Strout. Taped in 1967 and only sent to "200 radio stations" according to Coming Back to a Theater Near You: A History of Hollywood Reissues, 1914-2014 (p. 389), this LP was meant to accompany the 1967 pressing of the Gone With the Wind soundtrack (MGM catalog number 1E-10 ST). This is the first time the record has been offered for public sale from my research. What makes this historic piece perhaps even more compelling is that it includes the original MGM mailer, addressed to film historian Ronald Haver from his time at the WQXR radio station. A must-have for collectors of Max Steiner and classic film soundtracks!
I have listed a variety of records for sale, please check out my other auctions!
