Very Rare Find--Has both uncensored John Sinclair liner notes and uncensored audio on title track.

This record came from a large vinyl collection that I bought at an estate sale.

Album Info:  One of the most powerful debut albums ever recorded and it was a live album.  It fully encaptures the essence of this very loud rock album.  Recorded in Detroit at the Grande Ballroom over two nights for Devil’s Night and Halloween 1968.  It sold fairly well in America but less so elsewhere making originals elusive and very hard to find in any condition, let alone better ones. The name is a shortened version of Motor City Five.  The title song originally included the ‘MF’ expletive, but Elektra changed it to ‘Brothers and Sisters’ against the band’s wishes.  A few ‘Kick Out the Jams’ in America were sold uncensored on cover and record ‘under-the-counter’, but are very rare and seldom seen or offered. A debut that proved to be the band’s definitive recording, massively loud, raw, energetic and powerful, it is regarded as one of the greatest live albums ever made by many. Quite similar to The Stooges fronted by Iggy Pop, this album takes no prisoners and the music simply fizzes from the speakers. They went on to make two more albums, but those never matched the raw power of this blistering set.

Condition:  I am not an expert, so I will not attempt to give it a grade/rating--I will tell you what I see/hear.

Cover: Looks very good with VERY minimal wear on front/back--edges look good with no splits.  Inside gatefold has a small ink marking on top left side and some slight discoloration in a few areas.

Inner Sleeve:  Looks very good--has a few slight wrinkles and a very small tear at top--no splits at seams.

Vinyl:  Looks VERY clean to me--I do not see any marks/scratches.  I borrowed a friend's record player and played the title track to confirm that it was the uncensored version, and he does indeed say at the beginning "Kick out the jams, mother*****r"!  Record played great--I played all of Side One except for the 1st song.

**I have also done my research on shipping vinyl--I use LP mailers and I remove the record from the cover and sleeve and place between 2 additional cardboard pieces to keep it from sliding around--so don't worry about a bad packing job!
