A 1964 Capitol Records Promotional Open-End Interview EP for "MEET THE BEATLES" with 3 other Songs !!!
Offered is a very rare Beatles Open-End Interview EP manufactured by Capitol Records in January 1964. The record ID is Capitol PRO 2548 for Side 1 and PRO 2549 for Side 2. This record was meant to promote The Beatles new LP Album on Capitol Records called "MEET THE BEATLES" T-2047 and is marked as such on both sides of the EP. Capitol Records made only 2 such Beatles EPs in the entire 1960s: this one and one other for The Beatles Second Album released a couple months later. That's it! It's that rare!
Side 1 contains the cleverly made open-end interview by The Beatles designed for use by Radio Disc Jockeys to make it appear that The Beatles themselves were actually in the studio with the Disc Jockey! This EP originally came with a very rare picture sleeve that had the OPEN END INTERVIEW printed on one side of the sleeve. The DJ placed this EP on his turntable and read the script on the backside of the picture sleeve; then The Beatles answered his questions - a very clever marketing tool created and produced by Jack Wagner of Capitol Records in 1964. <<We will include a photocopy of the original script so you can record yourself interviewing The BEATLES!!>>
The record vinyl is somewhere in between Good+ to Very Good- condition and doesn't skip. There is wear to the labels but all the print is clear and legible. Side 1 has the 4 minute+ interview with The Beatles then goes directly into I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND. Side 2 has two songs from the Meet The Beatles T-2047 Capitol Records album: THIS BOY and IT WON'T BE LONG. This EP was produced and distributed only to Radio and TV Stations across the USA in January 1964 and was part of Capitol Records $50,000 BEATLES PROMOTIONAL BLITZ to promote Capitol Records First Beatles Album: MEET THE BEATLES!
