.PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! Original 1966 pressing with flip-back cover on the New Zealand Philips label in raw, glorious and thunderous MONO !
Brilliant first album by New Zealand’s finest garage beat rockers, the La De Da’s, 1966. They’re the Down Under equivalent of the Creation and the Small Faces on KICK-ASS freak-beat BLAST ~~ “On Top Of The World,” the lead off track here and their world-beating opening mover reminding of a scowling '66 Small Faces
While the follow-up track is the legendary snotty punk monster “How Is The Air Up There?” a 'Nuggets' style garage punk raver with scuzzy fuzz guitar and shout-out-loud chorus. Possibly the most lethal one-two out-of-the-gate gut-punch EVER from a New Zealand band – if this were an American band’s first album, they’d be as revered today as the Remains / the Chocolate Watchband. Of course, having a name like the La De Da’s doesn’t help your cause if you’re trying to be a blistering beat punk band!
Elsewhere, their work on “My Little Red Book” successfully merges the swingin’ lounge cool of the original recording with the punk stutter-step rhythm of the more famous Love release. The rest of the album is a series of well-chosen fiery rock, garage, mod, and blues jammers, all performed with a reckless abandon and crazed freight-train thrash that the early Small Faces had. Which makes their version of “What Ya Gonna Do About It” only natural, of course, and the massive loud over-driven guitar solo is a welcome -- keeping up the snarling pace with the ripping "SHAKE". The exciting punch in "Jump Back" continues the frenzy - complete with a BIG fuzz-guitar kick and though the band members on the cover won’t tell you, but this is one hell of a SMOKIN' COOKER literally burning through both sides.
