Maroon Margin Control Stereo Label with deep groove and color back.
Rare double LP from the legendary Mercury "Living Presence" Stereo line. The 35 mm records are growing harder and harder to find - especially in this kind of condition.
Condition: Lightly laminated, gatefold record jacket has sharp corners and very light wear on front and back. There are small liquid stains on both bottom corners. Spine rolls slightly forward. Labels have no spindle marks. Vinyl has a few visual scuffs and hairlines... plays fine save for an occasional surface noise/crackle or light pop.

Review: I enjoy collecting a variety of recording of the Nutcracker- there are so many. My all time fave is my original RCA Victor 12" 78 rpm set, however for sonic quality, I am a fan of the Mercury 35 mm issue, which seems to be the only nutcracker ever grabbing "collectors prices." ~ Steve Hoffman Forum
About Mercury's 35mm Recordings: In 1955 Mercury began three-channel stereo recordings, still based on the principle of the single microphone. The center (single) microphone was of paramount importance, with the two side mics adding depth and space. Record masters were cut directly from a three-track to two-track mixdown console, with all editing of the master tapes done on the original three-tracks. In 1961 Mercury enhanced this technique with three-microphone stereo recordings using 35-mm magnetic film instead of half-inch tape for recording. The greater thickness and width of 35mm magnetic film prevented tape layer print-through and pre-echo and gained extended frequency range and transient response.
